Gene Mahan            Lay Elder

Gene was born and raised on a farm in Iowa. Though his family rarely went to church, God was at work in his heart. Gene moved to California and shortly after that  went into the army.  When he was 35 years old Gene started attending a Baptist church in California and it was there he gave his life to Christ and understood that Jesus alone was his Lord and Savior.

Soon after he met his wife Ginny and began serving together for a few years until we moved to Nebraska with his three children, LeAnn,  LeNette,  and Michael.  Once the children were on their own, they returned to California to be closer to their parents and minister to them until they passed.  After retirement, they returned to Nebraska and roughly five years ago settled in Columbus.

Gene has served in various capacities within the church from construction to teaching.  Hobbies now a days are jeeping, reading, and just plain enjoying life with my family and my church family.
